... perhaps the most important Christian truth but one many people find the hardest to believe. After all most of the time, doesn't the world teach us gifts expect something in return? And certainly not to expect any favours we don't deserve. As a child I soon learned good behaviour was the way to get what I wanted. And bad behaviour worked in reverse. But not with God. Even when we really bad, God's favour holds fast.  And that means his love and offer of forgiveness remain.

The Cornish Vicar's Daughter says a lot about God's grace (use the search box on this website to find where). But for a more in depth study you might want to consider John Birch's latest Lent Course. The Grace of God . It's only £3.95 to download a PDF file which can then be copied for each member of your family or study group. Although designed for group study, I've used an Advent course on my own and learned at lot.   His website  contains many other free or low cost items - well worth a visit.

The Grace of God by John Birch

This is how John introduces the course...

The word ‘Grace’ occurs somewhere between 130-170 times in the Bible, depending on the version you use. Defining the word depends very much on its context.

Christianity has extended the definition to mean ‘undeserved favour or merit’. Or look at it this way, ‘Grace is the opposite of karma, which is about getting what you deserve. Grace is getting what you don’t deserve and not getting what you do deserve.’

There's plenty of discussion questions as well as notes and space for thought and prayer. Individual studies will copy onto 2 double sides of A4 paper for ease of use or are easy to view on mobile devices.
